Elysium Gates Foundation

This page is to acquaint you with the Greek Goddess Pandia: historically, the woman who now uses it as her alias, and as a volunteer for Elysium Gates Foundation.

HISTORICALLY:

There is not much that has survived of the history of Pandia as a Greek Goddess. This is what little I have found on her. If you have more information, please contact me!

Pandia: Her name meant "All Bright" and she was the Goddess of the Brightness, especially the Sun. She may have also been the Goddess of the Full Moon, as she was the mate of Zeus in his epithet of Zeus Pandion (the Full Moon God). I got my information from Encyclopedia Mythica. Another source says that she and her sisters were the daughters of Zeus and Selene.

"Once Kronides was joined with her [Selene] in love; and she conceived and bore a daughter Pandeia, exceeding lovely amongst the deathless gods." -Homeric Hymn XXXII

In ancient Greece during the year associated with our April there was a holiday called PANDIA. It was a festival in Athens for Pandia, the daughter of Zeus and Selene ...immediately following the Greater Dionysia. Little is known about it. On the day after the Dionysia there was an assembly, at which the conduct of the festivals was reviewed and at which any complaints were addressed. Honors were given to those who had helped to make the festival a success. On the full moon following the Dionysia (which was on the same day as the assembly unless the Dionysia was short), the people celebrated the Pandia, which was a simple festival.

BEHIND PANDIA TODAY:

I live in New South Wales, Australia and I am a university student studying Criminology. I really am fascinated with both Criminology and Profiling. Eventually I would like to go to the United States and study Profiling there. Profiling is not currently a large part (if any) of Australian criminal investigation practice. I am an Internet Addict. I've learnt how to make home pages and volunteer my spare time here at Elysium Gates Web Hosting. I am the leader of the Elysium Gates Foundation volunteer program called "Torch Bearers." Torch bearers throughout history are way showers. Greece made famous their torch bearers through the Olympics. Elysium Gates torch bearers continue the tradition by helping to orientate new members to all the ins and outs of Elysium Gates. Giving back, helping others, participating.. these are things that I strongly believe in and therefore I make every effort to encourage and support those of like mind who decide to volunteer as a "Torch Bearer."
